Mr. Eskald has 25 years of legal experience, including extensive experience in divorce and family law cases.
A Neutral Mediator to Help Resolve Disputes
As a mediator, James L. Eskald is a neutral to the dispute. He does not represent either party, instead he acts as a facilitator of communication between the parties. Mr. Eskald is an active mediator who seeks to engage parties in an open dialogue, to consider the uncertainties of trial, and to negotiate in good faith toward a resolution of legal disputes.
As a mediator, Mr. Eskald does not issue an order like a judge. He helps parties communicate to reach a mutual agreement between the parties. Parties to a mediation are not required to reach a mediated agreement and do not give up their right to go to trial if they do not reach an agreement.
Collaborative Law
In addition to mediation services, our firm offers collaborative law services. In collaborative law, people seek to handle a divorce, custody or other matter through a process that emphasizes communication and agreement as opposed to litigation. In a collaborative law divorce, both husband and wife have their own collaborative law attorney. The parties and their attorneys communicate openly and seek an agreement that avoids the necessity of trial.
